About us

The Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE) is a leading interdisciplinary research centre in the field of sustainable development and decision making.

CSERGE was founded in 1991 with the explicit interdisciplinary remit of examining all aspects of decision making regarding environmental resources.

The centre consists of collaborating disciplines including economics, political science, social and group sciences, geography, life cycle analysis, information systems and the natural sciences. It has won national and international praise for its pioneering research on the integration of this diverse set of disciplines to provide holistic and practical decision making systems. CSERGE was core funded by the ESRC for 16 years.
